Instance Specific Discriminative Modal Pursuit: A Serialized Approach

چکیده
With the fast development of data collection techniques, a huge amount of complex multi-modal data are generated, shared and stored on the Internet. The burden of extracting multi-modal features for test instances in data analysis becomes the main fact that hurts the efficiency of prediction. In this paper, in order to reduce the modal extraction cost in serialized classification system, we propose a novel end-to-end serialized adaptive decision approach named Discriminative Modal Pursuit (DMP), which can automatically extract instance-specifically discriminative modal sequence for reducing the cost of feature extraction in the test phase. Rather than jointly optimize a highly nonconvex empirical risk minimization problem, we are inspired by LSTM, and the proposed DMP can turn to learn the decision policies which predict the label information and decide the modalities to be extracted simultaneously within limited modal acquisition budget. Consequently, DMP approach can balance the classification performance and modal feature extraction cost by utilizing different modalities for different test instances. Empirical studies show that DMP is more efficient and effective than existing modal/feature extraction methods.

A Discriminative Data-Dependent Mixture-Model Approach for Multiple Instance Learning in Image Classification
Multiple Instance Learning (MIL) has been widely used in various applications including image classification. However, existing MIL methods do not explicitly address the multi-target problem where the distributions of positive instances are likely to be multi-modal. This strongly limits the performance of multiple instance learning in many real world applications. To address this problem, this ...

In this work, we propose to utilize Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) to boost the performance of depth-induced salient object detection by capturing the high-level representative features for depth modality. We formulate the depth-induced saliency detection as a CNN-based cross-modal transfer problem to bridge the gap between the " data-hungry " nature of CNNs and the unavailability of suff...
متن کاملCM-GANs: Cross-modal Generative Adversarial Networks for Common Representation Learning
It is known that the inconsistent distribution and representation of different modalities, such as image and text, cause the heterogeneity gap, which makes it very challenging to correlate such heterogeneous data. Recently, generative adversarial networks (GANs) have been proposed and shown its strong ability of modeling data distribution and learning discriminative representation, and most of ...

In this paper, we evaluate a generative-discriminative approach for multi-modal tumor segmentation that builds – in its generative part – on a generative statistical model for tumor appearance in multi-dimensional images [1] by using a “latent” tumor class [2, 3], and – in its discriminative part – on a machine learning approach based on a random forest using long-range features that is capable...

The researcher measured the least number of frequency response functions required for the identification of modal parameters, in order to simplify the identification of modal properties of such systems. In this work, the orbital machines are supposed to be a combination of orbital and non-orbital components. Structural Approach specified the identification of dynamic properties only to those ph...
